My name is Sonya Dodginghorse, and I am a First Nation rodeo competitor from the Tsuut’ina Nation. I am honoured to represent the first ever Tsuut’ina Rodeo Club in planning our First Annual Rodeo called Honoring the Legacy of Rodeo in Tsuut’ina.  Our prestigious rodeo event will be held on May 25th & May 26th in conjunction with our Youth Rodeo Series to be held on Friday, May 24th, 2019.

Our Tsuut’ina Rodeo Club has been working hard in planning this event as well as a Youth Rodeo Series.  Our Annual Rodeo will pay tribute to Tsuut’ina Nation’s past and present rodeo competitors while enhancing our youth in the sport of rodeo.  It is a great opportunity to unite young and old First Nation rodeo athletes to visit our Nation as one of the stops in the season of the Indian Rodeo Cowboys Association.  Upon conclusion of the season, competitors have a chance to vie for Indian World Titles at the 2019 Indian National Finals Rodeo, October 22-29, 2019 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Our Annual Rodeo will take place at the Harry Dodginghorse Memorial Agriplex (HDMA).  We as rodeo participants and a community are very fortunate to rodeo on the Tsuut’ina Nation.  We are blessed to have the Harry Dodginghorse Memorial Agriplex that enables our young and old to develop horsemanship and rodeo skills.  Many of our Nations’ rodeo athletes have gone on to be fierce rodeo competitors at amateur and professional levels.

Our Tsuut’ina Rodeo Club encourages healthful relationships with Tsuut’ina Nation. Therefore we are offering a unique opportunity for Platinum Sponsors. My husband, Brent Dodginghorse, and I are opening up our beautiful rustic ranch, to take riders through deeply forested areas, beautiful open meadows, and flowing creeks.
